If you're tired of iTunes, give this Apple Music web client a try

Within Apple's modern and up-to-date ecosystem, it has been a long time since a very old application has grinded and, for many, it has been little updated to new times like iTunes. In that sense, for many users of the company, the worst thing is that both in Windows and in macOS, if you are an Apple Music subscriber there is no other way to play songs other than going through the hoop of an application that has remained on the ground of nobody (since the iPhone and iPad do not need to connect to it).

Since its launch in 2015, Apple Music was expected to count on a desktop with a dedicated client. It is something that according to personalities of the leaks as Mark Gurman was in the plans of the Cupertino, but has not yet arrived. However, all users who want to avoid iTunes or simply access Apple Music from unsupported operating systems or from the web are in luck, as a developer has PlayAppleMusic, a very complete client that works perfectly.

The first thing you think about being in front of an unofficial service like this one is that they will lack functions, particularly in the case of Apple, which is usually very closed regarding the use of its services in other platforms. However PlayAppleMusic.com has all the features you can want from the service, such as 'Explore', or 'For you'. The aesthetics rather than imitating Apple Music is close to that of Material Design, because it is built with Angular Material. Whoever wants to host it on their own server can, because PlayAppleMusic is open source.

For its part, both personal and recommended lists selected by Apple Music professionals also appear. What is left out is the 'Radio' section or the comfortable control of the queue. Its developer, Naveed Gol, has promised that a feature that is currently not present, add songs or albums to the personal library.

The safety part should not, in principle, be a problem either. In the dedicated GitHub, where he publishes the documentation, he explains that access to Apple Music is done through MusicKit JS, an official Apple API that is responsible for authorizing the account. It is something used by applications such as Shazam, and it works in the same reliable way as Google authentication, that is, by logging into an Apple website. In conclusion, PlayAppleMusic works (at the moment) in a completely legal way and without accessing data.
